Alaskans saved ranked-choice voting (RCV) this month at the same time they elected a conservative Republican to Congress. In so doing, they undercut the accusation that the instant-runoff system mostly helps Democrats, the most politically potent argument for opposing it. And they offered a glimmer of hope that RCV and other worthwhile voting reforms are not passing fads.
