Fatal crash involving D.C. police official under investigation

A motorcyclist died after crashing into an unmarked police cruiser early Saturday morning in Northwest Washington, a D.C. police spokesperson said.

Police said the wreck occurred around 4:19 a.m., when a motorcycle heading northbound at a high speed struck the driver’s side of a cruiser driven by an on-duty MPD official who was heading westbound through the intersection of Columbia Road and 13th Street NW. The official, who was not injured, had the green light, the spokesperson said.
