The cease-fire agreement that went into effect on Nov. 26 between Israel and Hezbollah has ended the Israeli bombardment that has killed thousands and has displaced more than 1 million people in Lebanon, mostly in the south of the country near the Israeli border, but also in Baalbek in the country’s northeast, the southern suburbs of Beirut, and elsewhere. Over the past two months, we spoke — in Arabic, French and English — with a cross-section of Lebanese civilians caught up in the war. One of them did not survive.
